Pets

Pets can be obtained through a Pet Dream cutscene on Year 1,  7 Spring at the earliest. During the cutscene, the Player is able to choose the name, species, color, and whether their pet is female or male. The following morning, the pet will appear on the Farm and begin living with the Player in their Farmhouse.

The Player can change the name, color, species, and the pet's assigned job in their journal under the Animals tab.

Appearance

By default, The Player can choose either a cat or dog as a pet with 12 different colors for each animal. These can be changed at any time.

Pet Skins

After unlocking the  Friend-Shaped Skill, The Player has a chance to recieve "Pet Skins" when Slaying Certain Monsters in The Mines.

Jobs

Once adopted, your pet can be assigned a job to collect various resources around town. They can either collect wood, stone, or forageables that are available for the season. In the evening, they'll deliver the items they've collected to the Player in the Farmhouse.

Pets will only go to work when the weather is clear ( Sunny /  Wind /  Wind). If it's raining or snowing ( Rain /  Snow /  Blizzard /  Storm /  Thunderstorm), pets will instead remain inside the Farmhouse.

A pet's job can be changed at anytime through the journal under the Animals tab, though they will only make one collection per day cycle.

The number of items a Pet collects increases with their  Heart Level, with Pets with higher heart levels bringing more back than those with less hearts. Pets completing the "Collect Forageables" job, can also bring back multiple types of  Forageables with the correct  Heart Level.

Heart Levels

"Your pet doesn't need to be fed each day, but petting and giving them treats will raise their heart level."

Much like  Farm Animals, Pets also have Heart Levels. The Player can raise their pet's heart level each day by:

• Feeding them a Cat or Dog Treat
• Petting them

Unlike  Farm Animals, however, Pets do not need to be fed regularly, nor does The Player need to shepherd them inside or outside depending on the time of day or The Weather.

When feeding a pet a Cat or Dog Treat, they will also drop Shiny Beads.

Pet cosmetics can be obtained by offering 10 to the Chicken Statue.

The Player can buy some furniture usable by pets from Hayden's Shop for 500t each, others must be found by chance within Mist Spots.
