An "Unidentified Artifact"

Artifacts are a type of item found throughout Mistria. They can be gifted, sold, or donated to the Museum. Each time an Artifact is found, the Archaeology icon.png Archaeology Skill increases.

Artifacts must first be identified before they can gifted, sold, or donated. To identify an unidentified Artifact, use the Held Interact action (default is Icon of the e button ( e key+hold) or Icon of the right button ( right click+hold) on PC).

Acquisition

Artifacts can be obtained in various ways:

Digging

Dig spots

The primary way to obtain Artifacts is through using a Worn pickaxe.png pickaxe or Worn shovel.png shovel on dig spots located throughout Mistria. Dig spots can be found in multiple terrain types, such as grass, sand, and dirt.

A certain number of dig spots are guaranteed to spawn in sections of the Map such as The Western Ruins, while other areas seem to spawn dig spots at random.

Increasing The Player's Archaeology Skill can unlock Skill Perks that increase the number of dig spots that spawn in certain locations:

Additionally, acquisition of the Stoneturner.png Stoneturner Skill makes artifacts sometimes drop from breaking rocks in the Mines.

Fishing

After sufficiently leveling up the Archaeology Skill, the player can unlock the skill perk Sunken secrets.png Sunken Secrets Skill to be able to obtain Sunken Artifacts.

Similarly, unlocking the Aquatic antiquities.png Aquatic Antiquities Skill after leveling up Fishing icon.png Fishing allows the player to obtain Aquatic Artifacts.

Sets Only Found By Unlocking Skills

Much like The Sunken Artifact Set and The Aquatic Artifacts Set, other sets require the player to unlock certain skills before they can be found. These sets include:
