Farming
Farming is a skill that's used to plant, grow, and harvest crops on the farm. It's the main source of income and source of most of the ingredients for cooking.
Growing Crops
Crops
To grow crops or flowers, there must first be tillable soil. A
shovel can be used to create or clear away tillable soil tiles. A
hoe is then used to till the soil for the seeds to be planted in and watered with the
watering can . Crops need to be watered each day until they're ready for harvest, else they will not progress in growth.
Seeds can be purchased from the
General Store and are sometimes given as
Quest rewards. Seeds can also be obtained with the
Prepared Picker Skill while
Foraging, or with the
Bountiful Skill when watering existing crops on the farm.
Seasonal crops will wither at the end of the last day of the season and will need to be cleared out using a sword before planting again.
Fruit Trees
The Player can also obtain fruit tree saplings from the
General Store to plant on their farm. The saplings in stock will vary depending on the current season, and will need a completely clear 3x3 square space around it to be planted.
They will take 14 Days to mature and fruit, but do not require watering and continue to produce 3 new fruit every
3 Days during their fruiting season. At the end of the season the fruit tree will stop producing fruit until the next year, but it will not wither.
Farming Skill Perks
The Farming skill can be increased by planting and watering crops and flowers on the farm, as well as harvesting them.
Trading in collected Essence at
Caldarus' statue on their Farm allows The Player to gain bonuses to their farming skill.

Making Crops Grow Faster
As a world with magic, Fields of Mistria substitutes the standard fertilizer with the Growth spell, which can be used to instantly mature any
crops (or
regrowing forageables) in a 1 square radius around The Player, at the cost of
2.
Outside of magic, the Harvest Time Skill means slow growing crops (those that take around
9 Days to grow), mature one day faster (
8 Days instead).
Water Sprite Statue
Possible Spoiler Warning
This page contains content and information from Version v0.13.0. This could be considered spoilers. View at your own discretion.
A Water Sprite Statue can be used to automatically water any
Crops within a 2 tile radius of the statue, as long as the statue is kept powered with an
Essence Stone.
Watering Crops this way, does not consume Stamina (
), unlike watering them with a
Watering Can.
There is no functional difference between the different appearances of the Water Sprite Statue, with all cosmetic variants functioning identically.
Currently there is no way to upgrade or improve the range of the statue.
Currently the Water Sprite Statue is the only "machine" used for Farming.
