Basic Quest Mechanics

Quests, also referred to as Story Quests, or Requests are set objectives which provide The Player with certain rewards upon completion. These objectives will vary from quest to quest. Multiple quests can be active at once, and they do not expire. The full details and current progress of all active quests are viewable in the corresponding  Quests tab in The Journal menu.

Quests can be accepted via the Request Board in the southeast portion of Mistria, between The General Store and The Mill, or through receiving certain letters in the mail.

Quests often require The Player to place items within a Donation Box (seen below) to turn them in, or alternatively to speak to a particular character.

Although these quests are all just classed as Story Quest in game, they are divided up here for ease of reading. They are collapsed for length as well as spoilers.

Festival Quests are quests related to (upcoming) Festivals.

Heart Quests

Heart Quests are special, Character-specific quests that are unlocked by the Player as their Friendship with each character deepens, represented by an increasing number of Hearts as seen through the Villagers tab in the Journal menu. Once the prerequisite number of hearts are met, the Player will usually receive a letter in the mail with where and how to begin said Heart Quest. Some Heart Quests are instead posted on the Request Board however. Following the directions given in game will then unlock a Heart Event.

There are currently Heart Events available for achieving 2, 4, and 6 Hearts with each marriage candidate. There are Heart Events for up to 10 Hearts planned for each character in future releases of the game.

Heart Quests may or may not provide rewards upon completion, depending on the Quest.

Heart Quests must be completed in order for the respective Character, in other words The Player will not receive not recieve the Letter for Ryis' 6 heart event before they complete his 2 heart event.

Requests

Requests are Quests posted specifically to the Request Board in Mistria that the Player can accept at will. The Request Board is located between the General Store and The Mill.
Like Story Quests, they have no time limit to complete. The requests posted are generally randomized, however some will not appear until certain conditions are met.

Crown Requests are special requests available from the Request Board once per week, after reaching Town Rank Level 50, Sapphire.

Exciting news has arrived from the King! Now that Mistria has reached the Sapphire Star Town Rank, we will be receiving weekly Crown Requests straight from the Capital!
Crown Requests are reserved for high-ranking towns, and each is worth a lot of Renown. Be sure to visit the Request Board, I just posted our first one!

Cooking Challenges are special quests available from the board in front of Taliferro's Stall on Saturdays, after completing Story Quest "Upgrade the Saturday Market". Much like Story Quests, the challenges must be completed in order.
